Who’s Martin Anyway?

on February 22nd, 2009 by Martin

My name is Martin Ayon and I live in Cypress, California where I have a small Web Development & Design firm (www.sintesys.com).

I have been working with computers since 1982 and my first computer WAS NOT a commodore 64 (sorry) I got one of those later in my life as a geek award. My first computer was an IBM PC Junior which had the most beautiful graphics for its time. I also had a Tandy Trash 80 (TRS 80) and believe it or not my first “Portable” computer was a Compaq PC-Clone with an 8 inch screen and the whole animal was heavier than my desk, but I managed to bring my “portable” everywhere. (I was so cool!)

As a part of my first paying job in the real computer world I was in charge of baby seating the data tapes of a DEC-PDP-7 “mini” computer. The mini was kept in a room bigger than the apartment I used to live in and colder than the freezer of the AM/PM store around the corner.

After surviving this job I was ready to move to Alaska but I decided to take a job at a local company as DBase II programmer and I was upgraded to a “dumb” station hooked up to a Molecular Computer with CP/M and 8-bit processors and if you know this kind of equipment you”re too old.

Today, 99% of my projects involve the Internet and all the technologies around it including XML, AJAX, Web Services, etc. Every project is part of a collaboration effort (Web 2.0) and every single one of my clients requires Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services.

Almost half of the web projects I’m assigned with are .NET based and the other half are Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP (classic LAMP for non-initiated). I also have an eye for graphics and some of my projects are pure graphic design and/or usability.

Although I prefer to have a pure hands-on role and directly participate in the development and design of my client’s web sites, more often than not I am brought in as project manager to handle all the aspects of my client’s project. Most of the times this role requires me to get directly involved in helping polish the vision of the project as well as defining the platform and ideal technologies.

One of my latest projects is the perfect illustration of what I just described in the paragraph above and it involves the architecture, design, development, and implementation of an intranet solution for Countrywide, one of the biggest residential mortgage companies in the U.S.

Prior to this project I was involved with PacifiCare a fortune 500 healthcare company based in Cypress California (acquired in late 2005 by UnitedHealth Group) working in the development and implementation of several .NET application to help the organization in their HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) compliance efforts.

I’ve also led the team and designed a Customer Relationship Management System (CRM) for Psychemedics Corporation the World’s Largest, Patented Provider of Hair Testing for Drugs of Abuse with headquarters in Massachusetts and laboratories in California.

I can develop in several programming and scripting languages including: C#, Visual Basic, Java, C/C++, Real Basic (Mac, Win, Linux), VBScript, JavaScript, and Phyton, just mention some.

If you’re interested in hiring me and would like to review my resume, please send me an email and I will reply with the most recent copy of my resume.

B-Good,
Martin Ayon

Hello world!

on February 22nd, 2009 by Martin

After putting it off for several months I’m finally making the commitment to create and maintain a blog and to post new articles at least every other week. There, I said it!

The purpose of: Web Publishing from Scratch - A blog for the non-techie entrepreneur with no time to waste, is to provide free advice, tools, software, links, etc. to people trying to start a web site for their employer, their own company, their uncle’s coffee shop, or their first client.

I will try to provide every single step needed to start and maintain a professional web presence for any industry and possibly how to make money using common advertising tools. I want my blog to be amongst “the best sources of information for the Web Entrepreneur“.

If you’re an entrepreneur with the need to create a web site for your business or maybe a blog where to share all your ideas or advise, this is the ONLY blog you’ll ever need.

Please be patient as I’m building this blog using my “Spare Time around 1AM and 2AM”. Seriously, if you’re visiting the blog for the first time today (2/22/2009) you are probably not very happy with the contents, but please keep visiting because I will be posting new and interesting guides on how to “Create a Website (for you, for your company, or your first customer) for almost nothing”.

I know…I know…this may sound cheap but the reality is that nowadays you can create a site from the scratch with freely available tools on the Internet, with help of people in the forums, free stock photos, you can even get free hosting, email, etc. The resources are out there and I will help you find them.

Thanks again for stopping by today and make sure to visit this blog at least once a week for new and fresh content.
